(D-2 Visa Part 3)_What should international students be aware of when working? (

Q1. What documents are required to work?

- I will organize the necessary documents one by one as follows!

1) Passport, alien registration card, application form

2) Confirmation of part-time employment for foreign students

3) Proof of grades or attendance (not required if FIMS verification is available!)

4) A copy of the business registration certificate and standard employment contract of the place you wish to work.

5) Proof of Korean language proficiency (if required)

6) Certificate of compliance with requirements for part-time employment for foreign students (if required)

Q2. Is it really necessary to fill out all the necessary documents and report employment when it is a hassle?

- No! Especially in the construction industry, if there is a report or detection, there will be no exceptions for the first detection, regardless of the number of detections.

A departure order is issued. Entry restrictions are suspended, so the possibility of re-entry remains open.

Q3. Do I need to prepare any documents if I receive an allowance and conduct research activities unrelated to my major?

- Basically, the documents registered in the answer to Q1 are required. In addition, you should first check whether the research is being conducted within the affiliated university, and whether it is related to the major or an unrelated field depends on the situation!

1) The scope of research activities recognized within the affiliated university is when research allowances are paid by the affiliated university's university and industry-academia cooperation group. When conducting research activities within the affiliated university, if you participate in research/internship related to your studies (major), you are exempt from a part-time work permit. However, if you participate in research/internship unrelated to your studies, you will need a part-time work permit.

2) Research activities outside of the affiliated university are when research funds are received from an external organization of the affiliated university. If you participate in research/internship related to your studies (major), you will need a part-time work permit, and if you participate in research/internship unrelated to your studies, you will need a permit for activities outside of your residence status (E-3).

Q4. I am an international student and have a spouse. Can my spouse also work?

- If you have been issued a D-2 visa legally, your spouse will have been issued an F-3 visa as well. In principle, work activities are restricted for the F-3 visa, but please note that it is possible in the following cases!

1) If the employer recognizes the need and the legal work environment, you can apply for a "Permission to Work Outside of Your Qualification" in advance and work. However, this generally does not include simple labor.
