Accommodation Industry - Foreigner Recruitment Procedures

Today, we will learn about employment and visas in the accommodation industry, where employment for international students is increasing.

 

□ Application target

The accommodation industries where foreigners can work include hotels (55101), resort condominium operation (55103), and other general and residential accommodation facilities (55109) whose codes start with 55 in the Korean Standard Industrial Classification. Accommodation business operators with these codes can hire foreign students.

 

□ E-7-2 Visa

First, the visa that allows foreign students to work in the accommodation industry is the 'E-7-2' hotel receptionist job. It is classified as a semi-professional job because it allows for specialized work such as interpreting for tourists or guiding foreigners, and the detailed conditions are as follows.

- Degree requirements: Holders of a master's degree from a domestic university or a foreign bachelor's degree or higher + at least 1 year of experience in the relevant field (degree does not have to be related to the major), Holders of a domestic associate's degree or bachelor's degree (does not have to be related to the major)

  1. Eligible workplaces for employment: Hotels in the tourist hotel industry, Korean traditional hotel industry, family hotel industry, and water sports hotel industry, with a foreign customer ratio exceeding 40% of the previous year's annual number of guests, based on the hiring company's criteria
  2. Wage requirements: above the domestic minimum wage

 

 

□ F-2-R Visa 

In addition to the E-7-2 visa, there is also the F-2-R (regional specialization) visa, which is issued to areas with declining population, that allows foreign students to work in the accommodation industry. The conditions are as follows:

 

- Degree requirements: Graduates or expected graduates of domestic universities (TOPIK level 3 or higher required)

  1. Eligible workplaces: Workplaces with codes starting with 55 in the Korean Standard Industrial Classification ※Hotel industry (55101), resort condominium operation (55103), other general and residential accommodation facilities (55109), etc.
  2. Regional requirements: Only regional visa business locations and lodging business areas are permitted
  3. Wage requirement: Payment of at least 70% of the previous year's gross national income (GNI) (KRW 30,835,700) is required.
